The Guerilla Art Kit by Keri Smith

Guerilla Art KitMore D.I.Y. Awesomeness-This potent little package speaks to the budding inner guerilla artist in us all. Expertly designed by Deb Wood at Princeton Architectural Press, this book introduces the reader to what guerilla art IS, how it is DONE, and and leads you through a bunch of fun exercises. The format suggests an official handbook with its cute ring binding and cardboard-looking cover with a silver spine that resembles the ultimate in DIY materials, our beloved DUCT TAPE. Its as if your cool friend handed over to you her book of secrets and opened the door to radical free fun.

The Best of LCD: The Art and Writing of WFMU

edited by Dave the Spazz, designed by Splendid Corp!
The Best of LCD Working on this book was the best project ever, because WFMU is the coolest radio station around these parts, and it’s Splendid Corp.’s dream to work on something that so lovingly celebrates a really vibrant time for music and art, a time that was well captured in the pages of LCD, the program guide of WFMU. Dave the Spazz combed through copies of the magazine for the best selections of underground comic art and music writing, and this book is so chock full of STUFF that it will take a while to consume it all. If you know any avid indie music fan who loves vinyl and oddities, this would be a very good gift.

Taking Things Seriously by Joshua Glenn and Carol Hayes

Taking Things Seriously

Why not participate in a perfect act of meta gift giving, by giving someone something about things, which just happens to be a thing itself? Reverantly designed by Carol Hayes and compiled by Glenn and Hayes, with a foreword by Joshua Glenn that speaks of the quality of thing-ness.

Michelle Amador: Because of You 12″ single and digital downloads

Because of YouMichelle Amador has a beautiful soulful voice. She is an independent singer/songwriter who lives in the Brooklyn, formerly of San Francisco. Coming soon is her full length album on Sick Trumpet Records, but you can get a taste of Michelle’s soulful sounds by buying tracks from the iTunes Music store or clamoring for the re-pressing of her 12″ vinyl single, Because of You which sold out the first day it was available in the UK!

Go See A Murray Little Christmas! One Night Left-December 15th!

Murray Little XmasMurray Hill is the suavest middle aged man in show business. Go see his legendary hilarious Holiday Show.
Best thing is if you sit up front, you might just be lucky enough to become part of the act.

Did I mention Murray has a frickin awesome TOTE BAG for sale?

Variety Shac DVD

Variety Shac DVDThese ladies are hilarious. You need to own all these videos and bonus stuff so you can repeatedly watch them without having to go to my beautiful website (um, where’s the modesty?) or their really really funny live shows.

Etsy Stores

Who doesn’t need some bread and butter? Or want to get involved in some liasynthesis (since there’s a lack of photosynthesis in this season)

Slaughterhead Wallets!

I got mine at the Bust Holiday Craftacular last year and ordered one online once I was ready for a new wallet. I love it and I really recommend it for organization and the sheer joy of seeing so many colors when you go to get your money. The little sleeves are great for business cards and receipts too. Its nice to get a useful and cool gift handmade by real people.

The Beastie Boys: The Mix Up

A grammy nominated instrumental album that is awesome. Do you like instrumental favorites like the Ventures, Persuasive Percussion, the Ska-ta-lites, the film music of Roy Budd, and Henry Mancini? Then you will love this sophisticated and casual music.

Battles: Mirrored

I just can’t help nominating this as a fine musical choice.

The Roots of Chicha: Psychedelic Cumbias from Peru.

Most Excellent Peruvian style music, on local brooklyn label Barbes Records. I really want to get this one.

Enjoy the Shopocalypse! (As Rev. Billy would say)

and actually,if you’re sick of the commercialism of the holiday, your money would be well spent seeing What Would Jesus Buy, in theatres now! Or check this out online.

This is my longest ever blog post. Sorry for some of the ridiculous tight spacing, i’m a baby blogger!
